Topcast Engineering presents TMA-G, a new family of gas atomization furnaces intended to produce powders of non-ferrous metals (bronze, brass) and precious (silver, gold), which can be used for 3D rapid prototyping technologies like SLS ( Selective Laser Sintering), SLM (Selective Laser Melting) or MIM (Metal Injection Molding). They can also be used of making soldering powders.
The systems are based on an induction furnace that melts the metal in a protective atmosphere which is then cast and invested by a jet of inert gas at high pressure.
The equipment is designed with a revolutionary conception dual chamber which provides numerous advantages compared to the traditional system of casting by gravity: the melting chamber and the process chamber are completely independent and, at the time of casting, the injection system controls the metal stream by applying a pressure difference controlled. This leads to an improved flow control compared to the simple gravity casting and consequently ensures a more uniform size of the powders, reducing the sigma distribution.
